The UK River Summit & Festival is set to take place at Morden Hall on the River Wandle, London, on the 21st May 2024.

A Yorkshire angling club fighting to restore Upper Costa Beck, a formerly prime trout and grayling fishery near Pickering now degraded by pollution - working with environmental organisation Fish Legal - have won a landmark judicial review in the High Court against the Government and the Environment Agency of its defective river improvement plans. 

As the vibrant colours of autumn start to paint the landscape, tree by tree and the air carries a refreshing crispness, we continue our daily wild swimming ritual.

The River Festival in France is supported by some of the world's best outdoor brands, but it also recognises the importance of underpinning the event with local knowledge and products. As a complete beginner last year, I have discovered how rewarding starting to create permaculture designs can be. What makes an adventure? For many, it’s all about exploring a new place, water, or summit and the journey that takes them there.

There is no better setting for a celebration of our natural environment - of rivers and wild food - than L’Oasis. An ancient walled garden, L’Oasis is lined with fig trees and is abundant with persimmon, apricot, cherries, green gauges, olive trees, and vegetables galore. In every sense, food is at the core of the River Summit & Festival and L’Oasis will bear fruits of many kind for this year’s special event.

Rivers are the arteries of the land, supplying life-giving water to flora, fauna, and us. We live next to rivers all over the world. Chalabre, for example, is fed by three rivers; the Blau, the Chalabriel, and the Hers. But we are abusing our rivers and threatening their health and well-being.
