Building Momentum for the UK River Summit 2025 and The River Festival
At The River Summit and Festival, we are thrilled to share the progress and exciting collaborations shaping next year’s UK River Summit at Morden Hall on July 8th, 2025. As we enter our third year, this flagship event continues to grow as a platform for encouraging collaboration, innovation, and action around river health and sustainability. From scientists and environmental experts to artists, MPs, community groups, and academics, we are bringing together diverse voices to celebrate the vital role of rivers in our communities.
We are delighted to announce that the Greater London Authority (GLA) will be supporting both the UK River Summit and The River Festival. This partnership underscores the significance of these events in driving change and building awareness for the protection and celebration of our waterways.
The 2025 Summit will introduce impactful new elements, including solutions-focused roundtable discussions, panels led by academic and industry experts, and creative expression through art and storytelling. As part of our commitment to fostering innovation, we will also be collaborating with Glenda Cooper, Head of Journalism at City St. George’s University, on an exciting Live Journalism project. This initiative is one of several partnerships with academics and thought leaders that will enrich the Summit with fresh perspectives and dynamic conversations.
Meanwhile, we are excited to announce the launch of a brand-new event: The River Festival in Wandsworth, set to take place in early September as part of the London Borough of Culture celebrations. The Festival will bring the community together to honour the River Wandle’s rich heritage while promoting inclusivity and accessibility to green spaces and waterways. Featuring a mix of arts, performances, and hands-on activities, the Festival will complement the Summit’s mission by reaching wider audiences and deepening public connections to their rivers.
As planning continues for both events, we remain committed to creating meaningful opportunities for education, action, and celebration. These initiatives aim to foster inclusivity, amplify unheard voices, and ensure a collective focus on safeguarding our waterways for future generations.
We invite you to join us on this exciting journey—whether by attending, volunteering, or contributing your ideas—to make 2025 a landmark year for rivers and the communities that cherish them.
